It’s cinematic! That’s what you will say after finishing Lance Starr’s biographical novel Guanaja Chronicles the Last Resort: Modern Day War for the Bay Islands. The novel is a perfect amalgamation of multiple genres such as travel, action, adventure, and so on. In the novel author Lance Starr shares his experience as scuba diver and resort owner. Lance spent his early days with Roberto Fernandez and Greg, who had a noteworthy impact on the author’s life. Greg and Lance share a god gifted connection where Lance can give shape to anything Greg imagines and that’s why this bond creates a special place in readers’ minds. On the other hand, Roberto is an ideal partner who helps Lance from his early days in the resort business.
With the help of earning from Greg and his creation, Lance enters the world of Bay islands. His next job was to search for a female partner who will help in the growth of both his professional and personal life. The journey of finding a woman as one of its own kind. Readers experience a bag full of emotions including joy, nostalgia, heartbreaks, disgust, etc. Characters like Denya Galicia from Madrid and the childhood sweetheart Patty provide a homely vibe for the readers. We get connected to those tracks and start praying that they should get all the happiness they deserve. Illustrating characters in such a way that makes a deep connection with the reader is what we call success for the writer.
In addition to the friendship and romantic tracks there are numerous moments giving you the vibe of an edge of the seat thriller. Corrupted governing bodies failed law and order and on top of everything, the dark world of drugs created a threatening vibe in the Bay Island and the nearby places. Rayban, Octavio Jr. Songbird and Vanna are the characters who get involved with Lance in fighting against the notorious drug gang. Every time characters get into fighting or similar kind of activities the author tries to depict the scene subtly making the scenes rawer and more intense. Readers can feel the tension from Lance’s narration of the sequences. The action involves guns, explosives, chasing, spying, and many more things enhancing the depth of the action adventure book. One of the most interesting facts is the way Vanna saves Lance plenty of times helps break the gender stereotypes of an action narration. Vanna getting into a fight with Zulinda regarding Lance depicts the shade of her character.
Apart from exploring the sociopolitical niche of the Bay Island and the surroundings, Lance Starr’s book illustrates the geography, nature, and the world of scuba diving in bits and pieces throughout the novel. The serene green and mysterious blue of the island adds an extra layer for the reader. Along with the action-adventure lover the voyage exploring nature and the world of scuba is an added bonus for the readers. Scenes like Patty listening to her husband’s last urge, Denya choosing her career over relationship, fighting the drug mafia going beyond themselves to the gore in some scenes. Guanaja Chronicles the Last Resort: Modern Day War for the Bay Islands has plenty to offer the audience. The more we talk about this book we will feel we discussed very little. So, to know the world of Bay Island you must dive into its puzzling blue ocean, which might just lead you to the depth of Lance Starr’s title. Guanaja Chronicles: The Last Resort is a pulse-pounding tale of loyalty and the fight for survival in a modern-day war that could change everything. A must-read for lovers of adventure, history, and high-stakes drama.
