In a person’s life, there comes a time when they must find a path which allows them to answer life’s biggest questions and greatest challenges. For some, they turn inward and ask themselves these questions from a moral perspective. For others, turning to a higher power is necessary to educate and reinforce those morals, and to understand the world, which is why religion and faith play such a big role in so many people’s lives.

Faith drives author Allen Thompson Brillhart III’s The Word That Loves You: Begin. The book is a fast-paced guide which takes verses from the English Standard Version of the Holy Bible of the Christian Faith and converts six topics into six corresponding topics, each with a Bible passage to answer it. From The Fall and Forgiveness to Fruit and Finding Others for Salvation, the book offers answers and insights on these topics by bringing to life the verses that will resonate most with readers.

This is an insightful and engaging guide to important life topics through a Christian lens. The author did a wonderful job of not only exploring each verse in its entirety and exploring the depth of detail and meaning behind each verse, but also of adding an interactive element to each verse by asking a series of questions that gave readers the ability to study and educate themselves on how the Bible approaches specific topics. The pacing was perfect, as each verse gets several pages to explore the full verse, along with the questions and an accompanying breakdown to get a full sense of the verse’s impact.

Readers who enjoy non-fiction, religious and faith-based guidebooks, especially the Christian Bible, will truly enjoy this book. The insights into not only faith and the power of belief as a whole, but also on specifics around the Bible, like Adam and Eve’s fall and how Jesus said people should pray, make this guidebook a great companion to the Bible itself, and give readers the chance to understand their faith in a straightforward and thoughtful way. The author does a great job of writing in a way that allows them to return to this guidebook time and time again to explore various topics and verses at their leisure and to study their meanings, fostering their faith in a meaningful way.

Allen Thompson Brillhart III reminds us that every spiritual journey starts with a single step of faith and that God’s Word faithfully guides and strengthens those who seek Him. An encouraging read for Christians at every stage of their walk.
