The story takes on so many different genres, from spy thriller and mystery to action and adventure. The mythos behind the 200-years war and the political intrigue that develops both in the future and present timelines keeps the story fresh and the tension buildup growing, giving the mission these characters find themselves on even higher stakes. The chemistry between the major protagonists of this story, as well as the gritty thriller aspects of the sci-fi elements, made this story feel alive on the pages.
This is the perfect read for those who enjoy science-fiction-meets-spy-thriller novels, especially those with a heavy emphasis on military action and adventure narratives and engaging political intrigue. The imagery in the author’s writing really made the universe this novel inhabits feel real and grounded, despite the futuristic and sci-fi heavy narrative, from the ship the crew commanded to the past and future versions of the Earth and beyond.
