The author starts with flashbacks by taking us back to the narrator’s years in grade eight. She was thirteen years old and believed that she had the world by the tail. She talks of her experiences, and how she liked school life and also tells of how God spoke to her at that tender age. I love how the narrator talks about God. One would think that God is her best friend whom she talks to every day. God is supreme, but in her words, one can feel that she was really close to Him and happy when He spoke to her. The narrator’s words can make you want to talk to God on a daily basis. She makes it look so easy!

The chapter titled ‘The Ground Beneath My Feet’ was such a pleasurable chapter. First off, the title of the chapter was significant to the story being told. I like how the narrator told the story. He vividly described the time of the year, October, with leaves falling, and how he liked walking and shuffling through them. His meeting David and knowing his name even without David talking to him made an interesting start. I enjoyed how the conversation seemed a little awkward on David’s side but exciting on the narrator’s side when the narrator tried explaining that God told him David’s name. The two became good friends, and even joked together. God had sent Davd to him. When David took the glass given to him and walked down the trees and knelt saying, ‘Do not be afraid. Trust me. I am of the Muki. The Muki do not rape little girls.’ I got to be fascinated by his character. I can say that David of the Muki was one of the characters I enjoyed reading about.

The purpose of this book is to show every reader how God communicates through different means. He can communicate to you through your friends and colleagues or through an occurrence in your life. All the stories told in the book are linked through one thing; the love God has for his people and how He looks out for us. I got a little sad when I reached chapter 41; ‘Receiving Prophecy.’ I felt as if I needed to read more of the stories as the author wrote beautifully.

This book is a great publication for readers who want to feel closer to God, and who don’t understand how God talks to us. He communicates not just through prayer, but also through the things surrounding us. The author’s creativity is commendable. The characters in the book all have distinct habits that make them unique.

The writing style of the book is simple and easy for young readers to comprehend. This book is fit for readers of all ages, as the themes covered are not too complex for the mind.
