The author brilliantly finds a means of fusing both horror and romance into one cohesive genre that allows the story to flow smoothly. The heat and passion which went into the story of this novel was felt greatly, as the romance boarded on the more adult, erotic side of things, and the characters felt equally passionate in their actions and their motivations. The world-building and mythology the author established in the novel allows the readers to experience the magic and culture which the characters represent, and the imagery in the author’s writing allows the readers to feel the tension and heavy atmosphere as the horrors mount and the main characters find themselves fighting for their lives.
This is a truly epic read, especially for fans of horror, romance, and supernatural thrillers. The skillful way the author was able to play to both the heated scenes between the characters and the emotional connection they shared, as well as the history and mythology unique to this world the author created, allowed me to feel the allure and thrill which the author’s narrative evoked. The story itself is filled with action, shocking twists and turns, and a harrowing journey which kept me entertained and engaged all at once. Yet it is the complexity of these characters and their morality that really helps elevate the horror and romance found in this book, with so many of the characters toeing the line between good and evil and showing off the complexity that people live with day in and day out.
