Tom Warburton is a young British Soldier who is living out his own personal hell. He is currently incarcerated in Iraq, subject to random interrogations and torture. His captors want answers but Tom is unable to provide them. Time has lost any sense of logic to Tom, days bleed into nights and then back into interminable days.  He was on a peacekeeping mission and had been tasked with locating missing funds that were on the way to the Iraqi Government. Tom would be assaulted and left for dead.

The robbery of the large cache of funds was plotted by duplicitous veterans of the British Army and Intelligence. This group of men sought to trade in their years serving on the frontlines with a quick payday. They betrayed their mission and fellow soldiers, leaving scores dead in the wake of their brazen heist. As Tom lingers behind enemy lines, his father inquiries about his son’s whereabouts. Tom has always been the dutiful son and kept in near constant contact with his family. Weeks have gone by with not a peep, and Tom Sr. is worried. He threatens to unleash his wrath unless the British Government locates Tom. The government informs Tom Sr. that Tom has been implicated in the heist of the Iraqi loot. Tom Sr. sees the circumstantial proof of Tom’s guilt and quickly refutes it. The British have a problem needing resolution.

A daring raid on the Iraqi jail frees a nearly broken Tom. The Government and his father are eager to talk to him, but Tom is understandably suffering shellshock. Tom is recuperating slowly, but his resolve is clear and intent on revenge. British Intelligence believes the men involved in the heist and the betrayal of Tom’s unit have partnered up with others. Tom is asked to help clear his name by locating these men. The only thing certain is that Tom will not be deterred from getting retribution.

The Route to All Evil by author Frank Warburton is a mystery / thriller that will satisfy those who enjoy a well plotted revenge tale. Tom Warburton Jr. is a soldier trading one mission in for another, as his world has done a 180-degree flip. The lust for vengeance is coupled with a humanity in handling his enemies, as Tom doesn’t limit himself to judge, jury and executioner. Overall, The Route to All Evil is an extremely arresting read that will appeal to a wide audience.
