The book, Things I Wanted My Grandsons To Know, is a non-fiction work by author Kenn Stobbe. It contains quotes, sayings, and snippets which he, as a grandfather, cumulated from his own life and penned down for his two grandchildren. People gain wisdom as they walk their journey on the Earth, and when a person is aware of the wisdom and knowledge they have acquired in their life journey, they want to pass it on to others, especially to their family and loved ones. Similarly, Kenn Stobbe, through his course of life, has had many experiences and learned many life lessons he wants to share with his grandchildren, but he is aware of the fact that he won’t be in this world for too long and, therefore, might not get the chance to watch his grandchildren grow.

When he and his wife were blessed with two grandsons, they stirred in him the desire to share his hard-earned lessons with them. He felt deeply about them and mentioned them in the book as the sons he never had. He designed the book full of sincere – yet funny – short sayings and snippets to challenge his grandsons to live successful, God-centered lives and offer a heartfelt approach to living an authentic life.

Kenn Stobe is grateful to God for everything in his life. He believes in God as the supreme power and his love for us is unconditional. He feels blessed that God has always been generous to him and his loved ones and is thankful to God for letting him live a happy and fulfilling life with his friends and family in the beautiful Nebraskan Hills. He encourages his grandsons to always believe in God and trust Him because as long as Jesus is looking after us, there is nothing to worry about.

Since high school, Kenn Stobbe has found reading old sayings and quotations quite entertaining. He started to remember and apply them to his life situations and soon turned his interest into a hobby. He began to note them down and share them with his friends. The author narrates many important and valuable notions of life in the amusing form of small humorous quotes and snippets. His thoughts, though funny, hold great depth and, when comprehended carefully, can serve as the window to the reality of life, which is full of morals and values, which he wants to share with his grandchildren and the readers as well. He aims to accomplish his goal of making his grandsons better people and sharing his life incidents with them to give them a better insight into the world.

Through the writer’s words, crafted chiefly for his grandsons, the world can also take a peek into the worthwhile life lessons he has to offer. The book is a light, funny, insightful read, and I recommend it to anyone who likes light, easy non-fiction.
